"Abstract 1"

I wanted to make a mobile, but I ended up making a rigid hanging sculpture. It is supposed to evoke feelings of a celestial body and its satellites, and the stars.

"Swallowing Form"
|
|
Here I wanted to integrate an artwork with a frame. I thought that a transparent canvas with objects popping off of it would give it a surrealistic appearance, as many of my images have. I wanted to describe exploding, collapsing, and compression, but it also shows well the swallowing up of other forms.

"Moving Sun"
|
|
This started as a geometric experiment which I later expanded upon in order to make it into a gift for my parents. I think it is ambiguous in that the sun could be either setting or rising. The sun has a light source in it which illuminates the back of the object in the foreground. That object is also meant to contribute to the sense of motion. Is it sinking, rising, or spinning?

"Tanglecube Buddha"
|
|
I started with an isosurface representation of a tanglecube, and changed a few parameters. I varied several of the paramenters over time and used animations to locate this still image. You can see an animation of a similar form in the animations gallery. To find the form of buddha meditating on top of a lotus blossom by accident was quite exciting for me. It is also intriguing that many people who have seen this image see a demon's face at first. The hands can also be eyes. I guess this image is similar to those Rorschach ink blot test prints in that way.

"Tanglecube Dragons"
|
|
This image is just a slight shift from the last, but it looks very different. It is not as easy to see forms in this one, but there is a definite side-scrolling shooter space dragon boss look to it. I'm sure it would be easy enough to mine this source for more cool wallpapers. Enjoy!
