It Feels Like Winter

It's feeling a lot like winter here in Minnesota already. For the last several years, it took until mid January before we had this much snowfall. It's been cold enough that I started doing my winter adventure runs a couple weeks ago, and I even went cross country skiing last weekend with my brother. Man was I ever sore after that 10k of skiing. Some other fun things I've been doing this fall include working on ceramics at the U of M with Maggie, and learning how to do forex trading.

Some fun things that I've found:

The blog Information Aesthetics. I've enjoyed that aspect of science for a long time. The cooler the visualizations that can be created, the more beautiful the aesthetic of the information, the more interested I become in the subject matter. With fluid dynamics, I even became inspired to major in aerospace engineering. If I ever design my own home, it will have all kinds of cool visualization interfaces integrated into the structure. It will be more subtle than a science museum, but just as cool.

They Might Be Giants now has their very own podcast! Joy! I've been a big fan of that band for a long time, and I finally got out to a concert of theirs last summer. They started creating special venue songs at that concert, the first of their tour. That venue song for Minneapolis is in the podcast, which is a totally hilarious, quirky, 20 minute fun-fest that is not to be missed.
