Staying Observant

There are wonderful patterns to be seen all around us, even in things you might think are rather mundane at first glance. I tend to be more observant of my surroundings if they are new and different, or if I have my camera with me. It may be that having that recording device provides a focus to keep me more present, instead of in daydreams. Still, I do often find myself wishing that I had my camera with me when I'm in familiar places. I of course see my brain as a recording device, but it isn't quite as simple to upload its contents here as it is with my digital camera. I think that once I get my new camera, I'll bring it along with me a lot more often. That way, I'll be able to share more of those awesome things I observe, such as the amazing skyscape I beheld last evening. I don't know exactly why I like to observe things and share those observations with others. I know that everyone is capable of seeing things for themselves, but they don't always realize it. I guess that is part of my purpose in doing photography and putting it online. I want to record memorable things as well as interesting forms and patterns that I see in everyday life. In this way, I remind others to stay observant, so that they can see all of the wonders around them. I definitely hope you will keep your eyes open.
